We know the importance our community places on working with Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. In fact, Pew Research recently shared that 58% of Black adults believe “buying Black” is an effective strategy for moving our community toward equality in the U.S. And nothing moves us further ahead than homeownership. We know this because the Federal Reserve reports that a homeowner’s net worth is 40 times greater than that of a renter’s.
That’s why we’ve created a network of top-performing real estate agents across the country who are committed to providing you with personalized service and expert guidance every step of the way.
How it works?
The process is easy. Simply input the city, or zip code you are interested in buying or selling a home in. You will then find members of the Black Brokers Network who you can connect with. Review their profile and then reach out to them. The relationship with the real estate professional you select is yours. The Black Brokers Network does not charge a commission or a fee. Feel free to reach out to as many members in that particular market, interview them and decide if they are right for you.
By owning a home, we have more opportunity to accumulate wealth equity over time, which we can then pass down to future generations. Rather than “pay someone else’s mortgage,” we own the asset that appreciates in value over time. That equity is why The National Association of Realtors reports homeowners are 40 times wealthier than renters. Over the last 10 years, the median-priced home in the U.S. increased by $190,000.
There is a “pride” of ownership and a greater sense of belonging to a community that is not as strong for renters. Whether it’s knowing our neighbors, participating in local events and school activities, or serving on committees, homeowners are active in embracing and strengthening the neighborhood and town we live in.
Along with acquiring equity and potential tax benefits, owning a home allows access to higher education, business creation and economic generation. For many of us, home ownership allows access to better schools and safer neighborhoods. It also helps break the pattern that too many in our community have faced – only knowing renting.
